While working as a vocational rehabilitation consultant in the areas of motor vehicle accident and workers’ compensation, I attended law school in the night program at Denver University. As a result of the combined background, I prepared many lectures and seminars for the University of Northern Colorado and I am presently an Affiliated Associate Professor at the University of Northern Colorado. I enjoy the opportunity to work with healthcare professionals and provide education regarding the interaction with the legal system. Additionally, I have prepared many seminars for insurance companies, employers and medical groups regarding the issues of workers’ compensation for not only awareness, but for specific training.
I completed a law clerkship at Pinnacol Assurance (previously State Comp Insurance Authority) and began working with James L. Carpenter, attorney at law, in insurance defense primarily with workers’ compensation. After Mr. Carpenter retired, I took over the practice and had a private practice which emphasized workers’ compensation defense; however, it was a general practice in multiple areas. This practice continued until 2001 when I became an associate with. Senter Goldfarb & Rice, LLC. At this time, my practice is primarily workers’ compensation defense which includes subrogation, insurance coverage regarding workers’ compensation and bad faith. In addition to my legal endeavors, I am presently a bass player for a band out of Fort Collins called “After the Fire”, and perform exclusively for charitable organizations as the philosophy of the band is to give back to the community.
As an attorney, I believe that I am part of a team effort which involves insurance adjusters, employers and other participants with the idea in mind to resolve legal issues quickly and efficiently.
